Alvin C. York State Park.

The day after we stayed in Rugby, we drove to Pall Mall TN, to the Alvin C. York State Park. Alvin York was a WW1 hero who single-handedly captured 132 Germans and 35 machine guns. We met his son, Andrew York, and he let me climb up on the mobile AA gun that was in front of the gift shop. It was really cool and we went on a nature hike and saw his grave.

Rugby, TN

My family went to Tennessee this weekend, and it was awesome! Friday afternoon we went on two nature hikes. We spent that night in a renovated Victorian cottage in Rugby TN.  It was very historic/rustic and was full of BOOKS! We ate at a cafe down the road and also for breakfast the next day, because apparently there weren't very many other restaurants around. The closest convenience store was 7 miles away. Talk about the middle of nowhere.

Memphis Zoo

The other day my sister and I were at the Memphis Zoo. The senior safari was that day so we helped a lot of elderly people and told them facts about the animals.  We also got a lot of good pictures. My favorite animal at the zoo is Teva the baby sea lion.  She was born June 27, 2012, and is very playful and interactive.  For more information about the zoo, check out their website at http://memphiszoo.org/.
